Bio
2023 saw The Cherished Times become far more than Lancashire based singer songwriter Kev Scott’s studio collaborators.
Aspirations of performing tracks from his 5 self produced albums with a full band came to fruition, eventually forming a band of experienced quality musicians that would perform tracks already released as well as new material formed with the new band.
In early 2025, the band began recording their first album together.
‘Battle’ was released in the summer of 2025.
From his late teens into his early twenties, Kev Scott performed in various bands in his hometown of Fleetwood.
In 2013 he began making his first solo album which involved multiple musicians/friends. ‘Songs About People & Feelings’ was released in 2014.
Around this time, Kev was in contact with best selling Australian author Kathryn Bonnella, who's books focused on and around the notorious crime scene in Bali, Indonesia. The song ‘Hotel K’ was used as theme music for Kathryn's website as it was inspired by her book on Hotel Kerobokan/The Bangkok Hilton.
The follow up album was quickly underway with Kev keen to further learn the art of recording and mixing. The personnel of 2016's ‘The Loved Ones’ was stripped back to just 3 musicians for the core of the album (with a few cameos and backing vocalists) thus adding continuity to the sound.
This pattern continued for the next album with ‘Appeals For The Lonely’ being released in 2018.
For the next album, Kev decided to look for a name he could use for the various singers and musicians that worked on his recordings to acknowledge their work and talents, citing that he cherished the time he spent working with them, particularly bassist and guitarist Ronnie Holland. He decided from now on to release his albums under the name Kev Scott & The Cherished Times. This applied for the following two albums, 2020's ‘Exhausted Fantasies’ and 2022's ‘Find You Love’.
Prior to the release of ‘Find You Love’, the everlonging need to play his songs live with a band forced Kev into forming a band. Various musicians came and went before a final line up was settled and because he wanted the new band to be exactly that, dropped his name.
The original line up of The Cherished Times was made up of Jo Byrne (keyboards/backing vocals), Mark Mitchell (drums), Jim Shea (bass) and Keith Bleakley (lead guitar/backing vocals).
By the time the band were ready to play live, a full new album was written, with a handful of the songs already included in the bands live set. After only six months of playing live, Jo decided to leave the band due to other commitments and was replaced by Predz Allen. When Allen was relieved of his role in the band after a short time, the remaining members embarked on further shows around the North West as a four piece.
Work on the new album stuttered and shortly after keyboard player Tec Etchells joined the band, Mark was replaced on drums by Graham Brennan.
The band began performing together immediately and the recording of ‘Battle’ also began.
Following the release of singles several singles from the album, Battle was released in the summer of 2025.
